Guest Blog by Patricia Dubroof, Director of Community Relations, Assisting Hands Home Care
Did you know that making art improves your physical and mental well-being? Research from 1994, provided by Dr. Gene Cohen, a medical doctor who held a Ph.D. in gerontology, established that a daily dose of creativity helps combat fatigue, high blood pressure and feelings of isolation and improves your general health! In 2007 Dr. Cohen created Making Memories Together, an old-fashioned board game to improve the mood, level of engagement and ability to share stories for all. Although originally designed as a research project for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease, Making Memories Together is a great game to play with loved ones, whether or not they are experiencing cognitive changes. Dr. Cohen passed away in 2009, and his family selected Assisting Hands to preserve and share part of his extensive scientific legacy by giving away these fun and healthful games for FREE!!! Please contact me to get your game.
