![]() Our Black History Month Spotlight today is Anthony Featherstone, the Executive Director of Worksource Montgomery. Q: What is the most important event or milestone to occur in your lifetime? A: There are two—the birth of our two sons. Realizing that everything I do will have a direct influence on their lives gave me a new sense of responsibility. Q: Who has been the most inspiring leader to influence you in your personal and professional career? A: My father is hands-down the most inspiring leader in my personal life. Through his actions he has always instilled in me the value of faith, consistency, work ethic, achievement, sacrifice, love (tough at times), teamwork, respect, and responsibility. Throughout my career in workforce development I can say with all certainty that these values have been the catalyst for any of my professional success. Professionally, it’s extremely difficult to choose one person, as I’ve been extremely fortunate to have met and worked with so many great people throughout my career. The key for me has been to make sure to never relax in my desire and willingness to learn from everyone I’m able to partner with at any level—I believe there is always something to learn from everyone. Q: What is the most important conversation that the business community should be having? A: How to continually promote diversity, equity and inclusion through their internal policies, investments e.g., apprenticeships, advocacy, community and workforce system engagement. WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) focuses on linking local and regional economic development and workforce efforts in Montgomery County, Maryland. WSM develops a deep understanding of target and emerging industry demands, creating sustainable workforce solutions that are tailored to the region. This increases the ability of individuals to compete for higher-quality jobs and employers to compete within the marketplace.
